Senior Bookkeeper - Property

Job Title: Senior Bookkeeper
Location: Central London
Package: Up to £50,000

I am currently working with a Property Management organisation who also have a portfolio of businesses including several hotels and hostels in central London as well as a large property portfolio. We require a finance professional to join their head office team and be responsible for the day to day finance function. There are also opportunities to grow the role and the team in order to implement process improvements across the group of companies.

On a day-to-day basis, the finance professional will be responsible for recording invoices, performing bank reconciliations as well as recording receivables. Other tasks will include making payments, preparing BACS templates and reconciling credit card receivables. The candidate should ideally have knowledge of preparing payroll including PAYE and P60, as well as preparing and submitting VAT. The candidate must have the ability to meet the tight deadlines of submitting PAYE and VAT on a timely basis.


Requirements for this role include:

  • Preparation of payroll on a monthly basis for up to 100 staff
  • Submission of PAYE and P60 on a monthly and yearly basis
  • Preparation and submission of VAT return on a quarterly basis
  • Monthly recording of receivables and payables into QuickBooks
  • Weekly and monthly reconciliation on banking and credit card for both receivables and payables
  • Preparation of unaudited financial management reports on a quarterly basis
  • Generic/Ad-hoc tasks including preparation of invoices, processing of applications etc.
  • Admin tasks - including typing emails, answering the phone etc.


Requirements for this role include:

  • Degree in Accountancy / ACCA / CIMA / AAT (or equivalent) is preferred but not essential
  • Knowledge of the property and hotel industry is helpful but not essential
  • Good attention to detail
  • Ability to work through tight deadlines
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills and the ability to prioritise tasks
  • Ability to work independently and take responsibility with minimal supervision
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Use of QuickBooks (or equivalent accounting software)
  • Several years of experience working in accounting/finance department
