Legal Biller
A London based law firm is looking for a Billing Assistant (12 months FTC) to join their Finance team. Your main responsibility will be to assist in the Firms' revenue team to assist in the drive to deliver a more pro-active billing and support service to Prtners through the provision of a combined WIP management and billing service.
Key responsibilities:
- Review, capture & input of key data items omitted from matter set-up and required to support efficient 'right first time' billing and bill dispatch
- Assistance with the preparation and distribution of billing guides to fee-earners and secretaries in accordance with agreed service standards
- Generating draft & final bills to the agreed format and instructions
- Editing of time entries and disbursements including write-offs
- Cancellation of invoices and preparing credit notes where necessary
- Ensure compliance with SAR, VAT & International tax regulations
- Assistance to partners on matter management issues generally
- Ensure appropriate set-up and maintenance of data for e-billed clients
- Submit bills to e-billing vendor systems
- Monitor submitted bills and resolve any queries
- Collation of details necessary for finance central dispatch & e-billing
- Updating and maintenance in Aderant of contact details
- Assist with sending bills in line with agreed procedure
- Undertake ad hoc responsibilities as required.
- Liaise effectively with colleagues across all Offices to ensure a seamless service is provide to internal & external clients
Key requirements:
- Experience in a finance function gained in professional services, preferably a law firm
- Knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules and VAT for law firms billing preferred
- Confident manner and personal impact to command the respect of partners
- Flexible
- Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to work unsupervised and on one's own initiative
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Highly PC literate with strong systems skills, particularly in Excel and ideally in Aderant Expert (or similar).
