Accounts Assistant
An international law firm are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join their Finance team.This is a new role and my client is looking for someone who has a good understanding of accounting and experience working within the legal sector. This role will involve liaising all accounting team members and ensuring that they meet SRA compliance requirements.
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinating daily payment runs
- Allocating, checking compliance and posting of incoming receipts into both the office and client account
- Recording cheques received into the business on central register and allocating accordingly
- Processing of client to office transfers
- Assisting with the production of the end of day receipts schedule for firm-wide distribution
- Processing cheque requests, printing, having these signed by authorised persons and distributing accordingly
- Entering Court Fees onto account system, as per weekly invoice
- Entering Land Registry and Search Flow invoices onto accounts system, as per daily invoices
- Coordinating internal post
- Photocopying, printing and scanning
- Maintenance of both hard copy and electronic filing systems
- Archiving
- Supporting the wider team with any additional duties, as and when required
Key requirements:
- Strong academics including English Language and Maths at GCSE standard or equivalent
- Previous knowledge and skills gained in the legal sector or professional services environment
- Previous experience in using the accounting software Aderant is desirable
- Previous experience of a cashiering role in a legal environment, or prior experience in a Client role would be desirable
- Knowledge of the Solicitors Account Rules and Law Society Guidelines for cashiering practices (desirable)
- Excellent administration and organisational skills
- Ability to demonstrate their knowledge and expertise in their specialist area
