Senior Working Capital Manager

My large global law firm client are looking for a Senior Working Capital Manager to join their London Finance team.

They are looking for a transformative finance leader with deep expertise in working capital management within the legal sector. Proven ability to drive operational efficiency, lead high-performing teams, and engage senior stakeholders. Positioned to elevate the firms working capital function by delivering strategic change, enhancing analytical capabilities, and supporting partner-level decision-making.

This is a newly created role, reporting into the Head of Working Capital, working as their right-hand person, you will have four experienced Working Capital Managers reporting into you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with senior stakeholders to manage WIP and debt, reduce write-offs, and improve matter profitability.
  • Lead and develop a team of Working Capital Managers and Controllers.
  • Deliver strategic insights and reporting to support billing, collections, and pricing decisions.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to Partners, providing commercial guidance and financial risk management.
  • Collaborate with global teams and contribute to firm-wide working capital initiatives.

Skills needed:

  • Change Agent: Bring a proactive mindset to challenge the status quo and implement sustainable improvements across the cashflow cycle.
  • Strategic Partner Engagement: Comfortable operating at senior levels, including direct engagement with partners, to influence and drive financial strategy.
  • Leadership & Team Empowerment: Experienced in managing and mentoring teams, with a focus on enabling managers to take ownership and operate efficiently.
  • Analytical & Reporting Expertise: Strong analytical acumen with the ability to interrogate data, identify inefficiencies, and present actionable insights through compelling presentations.
  • Project Management Excellence: Skilled in leading cross-functional initiatives such as lock-up day reduction and process optimisation, ensuring long-term impact.

Background requirements:

  • 10+ years' experience in a working capital/ revenue function
  • Law firm experience is essential for this role to ensure the success of the individual.

Additional:

  • Hybrid working offered - 3 days in the office
