Senior Billing Manager - EMEA
Our client, a leading US law firm, is seeking a Senior Billing Manager to oversee the daily operations of their European billing team. This is a pivotal role for a seasoned billing professional with strong leadership capabilities and a passion for process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the European billing team (4 people), ensuring high-quality invoice preparation and timely bill processing.
- Foster strong communication between billing staff and the Partners they support.
- Support the Director of Revenue with day-to-day operational activities across the region.
- Train and mentor new team members, providing ongoing development and performance reviews.
- Monitor billing workflows to ensure successful processing and prompt client payments.
- Collaborate with Partners and clients to ensure accurate and timely billing and collections.
- Review client billing arrangements and maintain data integrity in MatterHub and Entity Manager.
- Drive process improvements and implement best practices across billing operations.
- Prepare internal billing and collections projections and reports.
- Stay current with VAT regulations and ensure compliance in collaboration with local finance teams.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects, including billing system upgrades and client onboarding.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills across all levels.
- Confident communicator and active listener, comfortable in challenging situations.
- Proactive, solutions-focused, and results-driven.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong analytical and drafting skills.
- Trusted and approachable leader with the ability to motivate and engage teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word); Aderant experience preferred.
- Fluent in English; additional European languages are a plus.
- Degree-level education required.
Experience Required:
- Minimum 10 years of billing experience in a law firm, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of implementing billing process improvements.
- Aderant experience preferred but Elite will also be considered
- Previous experience supervising/ managing a team
