International Tax Manager
Are you a tax expert with deep international and US tax experience, ready to take on a high-impact role in a prestigious global law firm? Our client is seeking an International Tax Manager to lead and manage complex cross-border tax matters, drive strategic initiatives, and support senior stakeholders across the firm.
This is a senior-level position within the Tax & Partner Finance team, responsible for overseeing the firm's global tax compliance and advisory matters, as well as US tax compliance. You'll work closely with leadership to ensure financial hygiene, manage risk, and support the firm's international growth and operations.
(Important to note - whilst international partnership tax experience would be preferred, if someone had really strong international tax and had a mixed tax background, i.e. corporate & personal tax, this would also be considered).
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of US entity tax returns, K-1s, and partner tax computations.
- Manage US state tax and PTET compliance for non-US entities and partners.
- Oversee US tax reserves and quarterly prepayments for non-US partners.
- Support US partners with their personal tax affairs and guaranteed payments.
- Coordinate administrative processes including ITIN applications and IRS documentation.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate profit allocations for US tax reporting.
- Lead global tax compliance across income and corporation tax filings.
- Maintain accurate tax provisions, monitor statutory accounts, and maximise double tax relief.
- Support strategic initiatives including transfer pricing documentation, new office openings, and partner remuneration changes.
- Advise on foreign exchange impacts, relocations, and permanent establishment risks.
- Manage global tax audits and disputes, including ongoing matters in India.
- Oversee compliance with BEPS, Pillar 2, Country-by-Country Reporting, and intercompany recharges.
- Line manage junior team members, fostering development and succession planning.
- Drive operational improvements and internal controls across tax processes.
- Build strong relationships across finance and business teams to embed tax into decision-making.
About You
- ACA/CTA qualified (or equivalent) with proven international tax experience ideally in a partnership setting.
- US tax expertise would be advantageous
- Strong technical knowledge across UK, Australia, and other relevant jurisdictions.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and change management capabilities.
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and commercially astute.
