Cashier Supervisor

Fantastic Legal Cashier Supervisor opportunity available to join Top law firm on a 9-12 month FTC basis to cover maternity leave. Managing a team of 4 people, you will be responsible for the day to day supervision of the cashiering functions of the office and client account reporting into the Head of Finance.

As the Cashier Supervisor you will be focused on:

  • Overseeing all day to day client and office cashiering functions carried out by the team which include:
    • Performing daily bank reconciliation's on the firm's office and client account and preparing the month end bank reconciliations for other accounts as required
    • Generation of client and office account payments through online banking platforms and ensuring the correct authorisations have been obtained and posting into AP system
    • Allocation and posting of receipts into client and office accounts
    • Processing of transfers between accounts including Office to Client, Client to Office, Client to Deposit and Client to Client
    • Administration of client deposits requests including designated deposit accounts
  • Providing expertise on technical cashiering matters including postings and reconciliations, firm controls as well as compliance aspects affecting the team i.e. AML guidelines and Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • Assisting with SRA Accounts Rules and LLP Audits, delegating requests as required
  • Reviewing month end bank reconciliations for the office accounts
  • Monthly review of nominal postings, checking accuracy and report corrections to the team
  • Reviewing various AP upload reports and ensuring nominal coding is accurate when uploading into AP system
  • Monthly review of bank accounts to ensure posting credits/debits to bank general ledger accounts
  • To ensure CHAPS, BACS and cheque requests are administered in a timely and accurate manner
  • Contributing to the roll out of cashiering projects and initiatives to streamline processes and improve team performance
  • To contribute towards training initiatives on cashiering aspects for fee earners and secretaries
  • Allocation and supervision of team duties amongst team members and monitoring the performance of such duties
  • Promoting a team-working environment and a professional, efficient service to all clients (internal and external)
  • Utilising leadership skills and motivation techniques to maximise employee performance and satisfaction.

Key skills needed include:

  • Experience as a Senior Legal Cashier or already undertaking the role of Cashier Supervisor
  • Exposure to Aderant essential
  • Friendly and approachable in leadership style
  • Experience of Aderant accounting system is essential
  • Knowledge of VAT and Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • Strong leadership skills and willingness to act as a role model to the team
