Assistant Manager - Music & Entertainment

An exciting opportunity has arisen within a top 50 accountancy firm who are looking for an Assistant Manager who will run a portfolio of top-tier clients in the media and entertainment industry. The role will have extensive client liaison with day to day management of client finances, accounts preparation and mentoring members of the team based in beautiful central London (West End) offices.

The firm is based in beautiful offices in London in the heart of the West End, albeit remote working has naturally become part of the role.

The Role:

As an Assistant Manager, your responsibilities for the role will be all encompassing; managing the day to day running of client finances, year-end account preparation fees and everything in between. You will also assist with management and delegation of tasks to junior members of staff.

Responsibilities also include:

  • Manage day to day bookkeeping, financial reporting, payments, and budgeting for clients within the media and entertainment industry
  • Acting as the clients first point of contact for all aspects of the client's affairs.
  • Assist with WHT (Withholding Tax) and VAT planning for UK artists and FEU applications for overseas artists performing in the UK.
  • Preparation and assistance with tour budgets and tour accounting including reconciliation of tour settlements.
  • Ensure that all statutory deadlines and requirements for accounts, tax, VAT and other areas are met.
  • Manage expectations of partners across the practice to ensure work and projects are completed within realistic timeframes.
  • Act as a role model for team members, providing advice, guidance, and constructive feedback.
  • Develop and maintain a strong level of technical knowledge through appropriate reading and courses, and to fulfil professional bodies CPD requirements

The Candidate:

To be considered for the Assistant Manager role, the ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years' general experience in audit or accountancy. Relevant experience within the music industry is also of high priority. The successful candidate will be ACA/ACCA qualified.

Requirements include:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong technical awareness alongside advanced understanding of policies, procedures, and processes
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Confident and professional in dealings with partners/staff and directly with clients.
  • Exceptional work ethic and desire to provide an outstanding client service.
  • Ability to cope in a fast-paced environment, taking responsibility for own workload
  • Ability to commute to Central London (West End) with ease
