Audit Senior/Semi Senior

Why do people want to work at a Top 10 accountancy practices?

Based on the adverts ever other recruiter seems to put up, people just like to say they work at a top 10, or a big 4, or a large-ish 7. Looks good on a CV I guess.

I don't think that's right though. I think it's what that number says about what it's like to work there.

That you'll be working with large, interesting clients, real household names.

That you'll be working with bright, ambitious and engaging people, surrounded by people who you can actually learn from, people who reached their position due to hard work and achievement rather than just biding their time like in some smaller firms.

That you'll have a personalised development plan, to build not just your technical skills but your soft ones too and help shape you into a leader.

And yes, the offices are gorgeous, the rewards are great and the salary is very competitive. Sure, there is flexi hours and comprehensive benefits. It goes without saying that the social scene is popping and there are groups and events for everything under the sun.

Plus the other recruiters aren't wrong, it does look good on your CV, but that's not really important, as you'll enjoy coming to work so much you won't actually want to leave.

It's a crazy coincidence but I am working with a couple of top ten firms here in London! Honestly, what are the chances?

Worth bearing in mind, you do need experience of audit in a UK practice, Iprobably can't help you if not.
