Working Capital Controller

A Top 75 commercial law firm who specialise in IP are currently looking for a dynamic Working Capital Controller to join their supportive and busy team. The firm is renowned for their innovative ideas, employee satisfaction and service to their clients both internationally and domestically. As a Working Capital Controller, you will working closely with the fee-earning departments to ensure client bills are issued in a timely manner, that any work in progress is followed up on and that billing is maximised on a monthly basis. The role is currently based remotely for the foreseeable future and equipment will be provided.

As the Working Capital Controller some of your responsibilities include:

  • All activities in the billing life-cycle
  • Liaising with all areas of the business supporting the billing and eBiling process
  • Assisting with raising pro-forma, engrossing and all other billing and eBilling related processing
  • Ensuring all eBilling rejections and queries are dealt with in a prompt and timely manner
  • Work directly with client eBilling teams/providers to ensure the firm has all the relevant info required and clients and fee earners are up to date on onboarding progress
  • Manage eBilling Hub processes, ensuring client guidelines and rates are updated in the system
  • Coordinate accruals, reporting and budgets and submit to client portals
  • Preparation for and attendance at monthly WIP meetings
  • Setting up monthly billing routines, as required
  • Dealing with ledger queries and credit note requests, as appropriate
  • Arranging for pro-formas to be raised and/or diarised
  • Chasing outstanding pro-formas on a weekly basis
  • Processing all WIP write-offs and transfers
  • Workload management via billing inbox and ebilling inbox

To be successful in this Working Capital Controller position, some of the requirements include:

  • Finance experience within the Legal sector
  • Excellent communicator and work effectively in a team
  • Ability to prioritise and work well under pressure
  • Proactive and professional approach
  • Experience of a legal practice management system (Elite Enterprise/3E) would be beneficial
  • Experience within working capital would be beneficial but not essential
