Ambition is working alongside a highly reputable international chartered accountancy practice seeking a VAT manager, to join their team in the central London office.

The Firm:

The Firm specialises in personal, corporation taxation and financial advice to international groups and private individuals. The firms international presence reassures clients that they can provide global advice and solutions, while navigating the maze of UK and international laws especially for clients with profiles in many jurisdictions. The offices are in central London, albeit remote working is naturally part of the role.

The Role:

As a VAT Manager, you will be providing advisory services across a range of clients, internal staff, and partners. The role would be reporting directly to VAT directors, and it is expected the candidate will work independently while providing VAT and customs advice with minimal compliance work.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide assistance and advice to the corporate services team.

  • Assist with complex VAT registrations and compliance.

  • Lead VAT and Customs Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) reviews.

  • Provide VAT advice line for art sector clients.

  • Provide technical training both internally for staff and externally for clients.

  • Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients.

The Candidate:

To be considered for the VAT manager role, the ideal candidate will have demonstratable experience working in VAT in practice, with ideally exposure to Customs procedures. The candidate will be confident in leading complex VAT advisory assignments, based on previous experience gained exploring a multitude of VAT issues in a practice setting.

Requirements include:

  • CTA qualified (VAT route) or other VAT qualification.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong ability to work independently.

  • Team player.

  • Strong capacity to work under pressure and in a deadline environment.

  • Excellent IT skills.
