VAT Manager

A Top 10 Accountancy Practice are looking for a VAT Manager to join their dynamic team in Glasgow!

This is an exciting role especially for those newly qualified wanting to be supported by a dedicated learning and development team.

The Role:

As a VAT Manager, you will work closely with VAT Partners and Directors as a key member of the team in Scotland. You will play a crucial role in delivering excellent client service and providing technical VAT advice.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

As a VAT Manager, you will:

• Manage a client portfolio with a higher level of client responsibility and oversee your team's portfolios.
• Provide high-quality VAT consultancy services to our clients.
• Support, develop, and review the work of junior team members and graduates.
• Collaborate with other areas of the business, such as Direct Tax, Employment Tax, and Business Advisory teams.
• Perform ad hoc duties to support local partners as needed.

The Profile:

• Varied VAT experience within accountancy firms, industry, or HMRC.
• The ability to work largely independently with minimal input from senior staff.
• Responsibility for proactive management of clients and work, including ownership of their portfolio and handling complex or higher-risk clients.
• The ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
• In-depth, up-to-date knowledge of VAT and the ability to address complex issues.
• Project and staff management experience.
• The ability to manage a client portfolio profitably while actively seeking and developing opportunities for both existing and new clients.
• Experience dealing with client senior management and HMRC.
• CTA qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience.
• Personal responsibility for decisions and actions.
