About the Role

We are partnering with a leading professional services firm that is seeking an Associate Director in Indirect Tax to join their London office. This is a senior-level opportunity to deliver high-quality VAT advisory work across a diverse client base, ranging from FTSE 100 groups to fast-growing entrepreneurial businesses.

The role offers the chance to lead client engagements, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the strategic growth of the indirect tax practice. You'll be working across multiple industries including financial services, consumer, healthcare, insurance, education, and property.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the scoping, delivery, and billing of client assignments, ensuring technical excellence.
  • Provide accurate and commercially focused VAT/indirect tax advice, supported by legislation, case law, and technical analysis.
  • Guide and review the work of junior team members, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Communicate complex technical issues clearly to stakeholders with varying levels of tax knowledge.
  • Collaborate with Directors and Partners on client delivery and practice development.
  • Manage financial aspects of engagements including billing, utilisation, and WIP.
  • Contribute to risk management processes from client take-on through to completion.

Candidate Profile

  • Significant experience in VAT/indirect tax advisory, either from practice or in-house.
  • CTA/ATT qualified (or equivalent professional qualification).
  • Proven ability to manage a large and varied portfolio of clients.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, able to balance multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build long-term client relationships.
  • Experience advising on complex VAT matters across multiple sectors.
  • Confident working in multidisciplinary teams and taking the lead on projects.
