Senior International Tax Manager


A leading global law firm is seeking an experienced Senior International Tax Manager to join their large, established partnership accounts and tax team. Reporting into the Head of Interantional Tax, this is a high-impact role focused on providing strategic international tax advice across a dynamic and evolving global business, particularly in the context of a recent major merger.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver day-to-day international tax advisory services to the business.
  • Provide tax structuring advice related to M&A transactions, office openings/closures, and internal reorganisations.
  • Lead the firm's response to new international tax legislation (e.g., Pillar 2, UAE corporate tax).
  • Advise on mobility and relocation issues, especially where partnership and personal tax intersect.
  • Support compliance activities including:
    • Partner remuneration reporting for overseas filings.
    • Review of material entity tax filings.
    • Assistance during tax audits.
  • Contribute to risk oversight and reporting, including updates to the Audit Committee on global tax matters.

Advisory & Project Work Includes:

  • Tax implications of international M&A transactions.
  • Business travel and mobility-related tax risks.
  • Withholding tax exposures on client transactions and interoffice settlements.
  • Tax considerations for new client contracting and billing models.
  • Intra-group reorganisations and ad-hoc international filings.

Compliance & Oversight:

  • Collaborate with local finance teams on tax compliance and reporting.
  • Review tax return submissions for legal entities and individual partners.
  • Support year-end processes including tax reserve and equalisation calculations.
  • Maintain oversight of tax risks and ensure alignment with global tax strategy.

Candidate Profile:

  • Extensive experience in international tax, including:
    • Withholding tax, transfer pricing, and cross-border transactions.
    • Managing complex tax issues across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Ideally experienced in partnerships and/or large international law firms however a strong corporate international tax background will also very much be considered.
  • Ability to translate complex technical advice into practical business insights.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, particularly with senior leadership and global finance teams.
  • Experience managing junior team members and external advisors.
