Management Accountant
One of my excellent law firm clients are looking for a Management Accountant to join their growing team and firm. This is an excellent, newly created opportunity and a chance to make a real difference in the team and firm.
Management Accountant Responsibilities:
Management and Statutory Accounts:
- Assist with the production of accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reports.
- Prepare and assist with key areas monthly, including bad debt and disbursements provision, review of cost lines, expenditure coding, performance against budget, prepayment and accruals, fixed assets register, monthly depreciation journal, central costs recharges, intercompany balances reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and payroll journals.
- Assist with year-end work in progress valuation and maintain financial records.
- Work with stakeholders to investigate any accounts queries.
- Perform monthly and annual financial closing activities.
- Support the preparation of schedules for statutory audit, ensuring all information is complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
- Assist in preparing year-end consolidated and standalone statutory accounts in compliance with relevant accounting standards.
- Process journals related to partners' capital, current accounts, and drawings.
Treasury:
- Assist with daily and monthly cash flow reporting.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist with the production of the firm-wide budget.
- Liaise with budget holders to reconcile expenditure and explain variances to budget.
- Perform financial analysis and reporting to support business decisions.
Others:
- Assist with the timely submission of VAT returns, tax returns, and other regulatory filings.
- Implement new procedures in the group.
- Assist the Accounts team with ad-hoc data requests and investigative work.
Person Specification:
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and data extraction.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
- Exposure to Aderant, Iridium, Cube, or OLAP analytical processing tools (ideal but not essential).
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize and work to tight month-end deadlines.
- Initiative and independence.
- Working towards a Professional Accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, or similar).
- Experience in a Professional Services environment preferred, but other highly regulated environments considered.
- Confident communicator with a positive work ethic and ability to build credible relationships with clients.
