A newly created in-house restructuring legal role has arisen within one of the largest global business advisory firms following continual growth in their national Financial Restructuring department.

The role is a Technical and Risk Director to sit in the London core Financial Restructuring team with the aim to support the group across areas of risk, compliance, regulation, best practice, legal and technical matters.

This is a very high-profile role within the business and will add a lot of a value to the Partners in that you'll be there to provide in-house risk and technical advice in respect of the administration of formal insolvency, financial restructuring engagements and corporate advisory work.

As the Director, you'll act as a senior risk and quality sounding board to the Restructuring Partners and will be there to establish best practice documentation nationally for all staff to utilise on live projects. You will also be expected to critically access new work that comes through to the firm to ensure all risks are considered prior to engagement.

You'll be the liaison with the regulators and will support the management with all complaints and the conduct of professional complaints to the ICAEW and the IPA. You will support the group on wider GDPR matters, liaise with peers within major firms at R3 and DBERR, develop BR risk processes, maintain and update technical and process manuals, conduct risk reporting for the group, be hands on with identifying improvements to Q&R processes and work closely with the firm's in-house legal team on various matters.

In addition to the technical hands-on project work, you will be directly involved in conducting staff appraisals, supervising staff directly and being a 'go to' member of the senior management team when technical training is required.

The business is ideally hoping to recruit a qualified solicitor (JIEB preferably although not essential) and you must have substantial practical experience of insolvency and legal processes. If selected for interview, you'll have to be able to demonstrate your understanding of regulatory and statutory requirements and ethical matters and show that you are familiar with insolvency advisory work and corporate finance practice.

This role would really suit an experienced restructuring lawyer who has either worked in a similar risk assessment capacity or has trained as a lawyer and is keen to operate more in an in-house legal counsel type position with high levels of responsibility and visibility across the firm.
