Head of Accounts/Accounts Manager

A leading commercial law firm is currently looking for a proactive Accounts Manager/Head of Accounts to join their firm and hit the ground running in this role. As an Accounts Manager/Head of Accounts, you will be responsible for overseeing the full accounts function for the business. You will have the opportunity to add value and create your mark within this role. Ideally they would like someone to start immediately or be on a short notice period.

As the Accounts Manager/Head of Accounts some of your responsibilities include:

• Dealing with end of month processes and year end procedure
• Ensuring during end of month that the ledgers balance
• Liaising with the accountants as necessary to finalise end of year accounts
• Overseeing the outsourced Legal Cashier services and their posting of invoices, disbursements and expense claims on the system
• Liaising with the bank on both office and client account queries
• Checking supplier invoices, professional disbursement invoices and expense
• Ensuring that UK VAT, Solicitors Account Rules and firm policies are adhered to at all times
• Responding to supplier, employee and client financial queries in a timely and efficient manner
• Checking and approving invoices raised by fee earners
• Overseeing residual balances
• Preparation and checking of monthly payroll for staff
• Dealing with HMRC queries
• Overseeing Land Registry portal
• Induction of new staff on accounts procedures
• Dealing with VAT queries and issues, and VAT quarter payments
• Reviewing and posting bills
• Providing information to the accountants
• Providing management reports to Senior Partner and various staff members as required

To be successful in this Accounts Manager/Head of Accounts position, some of the requirements include:

• Significant years of Managerial or Cashiering experience
• Knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules and VAT guidelines
• IT literate and strong communication skills
• Resilient and driven individual
• Ability to prioritise and work well under pressure
