Cost Draftsman

Ambition is working with an award-winning, highly successful law firm, based in central London with great benefits including season ticket loan, schemes for dental care & opticians. The firm are looking for an organised and efficient Costs Draftsman to join their collaborative team, you will be reporting to the Finance Manager and will be working in various areas.

As a Costs Draftsman, some of your duties will include;

• Drafting Costs Budgets and schedules of costs
• Preparing Statements of costs and costs estimates
• Negotiating Settlement of Costs
• CLAIM1/CLAIM1As and CLAIM2 forms
• CCMS Billing
• Bills of costs for Court assessment for payment by the LAA
• Appeals against LAA assessments and rejections
• Representation at court for review and assessment hearings
• Fixed fee claims
• Defendant Costs Orders
• Preparation of representationsand appeals against assessments
• Wasted Costs Application
• Advising fee earners
• Assist with creating and maintaining training and guidance materials
• Achieving agreed monthly profit costs target
• Provide regular updates to fee earners
• Preparing Bundle in support of Bills/Claims
• Deal with queries from fee earners regarding funding and costs

To be successful as a Costs Draftsman, some of the requirements include;

• Experience in costs drafting within a law firm or specialist costs drafting company
• Understanding and knowledge of Solicitor's Accounts Rules
• Understanding and knowledge of LAA & CFAs
• Enthusiastic and able to work with a wide range of people
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively and respond well under pressure
