Business Development Manager - Milan

We are partnering with a leading global law firm to recruit an experienced Business Development Manager to lead BD, marketing and communications activity across their Italian offices in Milan and Rome. This is a strategic, high‑visibility role working closely with senior stakeholders to drive client development, elevate market profile and support cross‑border growth initiatives. You'll lead local BD efforts, manage a small team, and play a central role in shaping the firm's presence in the Italian market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build strong, trusted relationships with partners and lawyers, gaining a deep understanding of practice areas and driving cross‑practice business development initiatives.
  • Manage and mentor a junior BD professional, fostering a collaborative and high‑performance team culture.
  • Oversee pitches, RFPs, directory submissions, marketing materials, sponsorships and events, ensuring consistently high‑quality and tailored output.
  • Drive PR and profile‑raising activities in collaboration with regional PR specialists and external agencies.
  • Act as BD lead for key client accounts, coordinating global BD efforts and identifying strategic growth opportunities based on market, client and competitive insights.

Experience Required

  • Deep understanding of the legal market and a broad range of practice areas.
  • Proven leadership capabilities, with experience coaching, motivating and developing team members.
  • Highly adaptable and able to collaborate effectively across functions and international teams.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills in Italian and English.
