Role Summary

Ambition UK is recruiting on behalf of a well‑established and growing accountancy firm for an Audit Senior to join their expanding Audit team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced audit professional looking to further their career within a supportive and progressive environment.

You will be responsible for delivering high‑quality audits for a diverse client portfolio, ranging from SME owner‑managed businesses through to larger groups with turnovers up to £150m. The role includes both on‑site and remote audit work, as well as preparation of financial statements across a variety of accounting frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver audits from planning through to completion, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of audit files
  • Conduct audit fieldwork at client premises, on‑site, or remotely
  • Prepare financial statements under FRS 102, IFRS and Charity SORP
  • Prepare accounts for non‑audit clients, including limited companies, LLPs, partnerships and charities
  • Produce corporation tax computations based on prepared accounts
  • Report progress, findings, and developments directly to the manager
  • Identify improvements to clients' accounting processes during assignments
  • Reconcile control accounts and flag required adjustments
  • Supervise on‑site audit work, supporting and developing junior team members
  • Review work prepared by junior staff and provide constructive feedback
  • Monitor job progress against budget and deadlines
  • Provide ad hoc support across the Audit Department, including training and general accounting/tax assistance


Key Skills & Personal Attributes

Essential

  • Strong previous experience in an audit role
  • ACA‑qualified or equivalent by experience
  • Solid understanding of auditing standards and accounting principles
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to supervise and delegate to junior staff
  • Strong IT and systems skills with an ability to adapt to new technologies

Desirable

  • ACA qualified
  • Experience with CCH Audit Automation and CCH Accounts Production
