Accounts Payable Officer
I am delighted to be working with an established UK law firm in their search for an Accounts Payable Officer to join their London finance team. Working in a close knit finance team this is an excellent opportunity to join a fast growing firm.
Day duties of the role:
- Ensure all office, disbursement, and professional fee invoices are properly approved and processed in the Elite system.
- Prepare daily payment runs on the firm's online banking platform, including international payments.
- Pay disbursements in accordance with SRA regulations.
- Make urgent ad hoc payments as necessary.
- Process remittance advices on a timely basis.
- Reconcile payment beneficiaries and resolve supplier statements regularly, identifying discrepancies.
- Undertake regular reviews of all unpaid and unbilled items, using initiative to clear them down.
- Deal with third-party/payment queries.
- Handle disbursement transfers and reversals.
- Post payments onto Elite 3E.
- Cover other team members as needed.
- Perform any other ad hoc duties as required.
The right candidate will have:
- At least two years of experience in legal accounting.
- Familiarity with legal disbursements, including counsel and experts' fees, is beneficial.
- Comprehensive understanding of SRA Accounts Rules.
- Broad knowledge of UK VAT legislation and its application to purchase ledger and cash book transactions.
- Experience in an international setting and with online international payments is advantageous.
- Proficient keyboard skills.
- Strong computer literacy, particularly with MS Office.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage workload independently.
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills; willing to go the extra mile.
- Customer-oriented; capable of handling enquiries from budget holders and suppliers confidently and efficiently.
- Strong numeracy, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
