Tax Assistant

This top 50 UK Law Firm is looking to recruit a Tax Assistant to join its London office. The main purpose of your role will be to provide support to Partnership Tax Accountant.

As the Tax Assistant you will be responsible for the calculation of monthly partner drawing rights and capital following periodic reviews during the year and reflecting changes of circumstances; end of year reconciliation of annual drawings on account of profits, calculation of end of year profit shares for fixed share partners; you will also calculate end of year charges to partners for insurances. You will also be responsible for the preparing end of year partner current account statements showing profit shares and drawings; the calculation of quarterly departmental charges to departments for the management accounts and annual budgets and collating information and preparation of individual partner tax returns on Pertax.

The Tax Assistant will prepare and reconcile bi-annual partner tax reserve statements; submit Partnership tax return on CCH Personal Tax from information provided by others in the department; arrange payment of partner tax and journals to tax reserves and prepare all staff PII D's from information contained within Globalexpense (expense reimbursement system). Further responsibilities of the role include; the calculation of NIC payable by firm; deferment and payment of NIC and NIC refund claims; administering business equipment allowance scheme; dealing with financial aspects of partner starters and leavers and collating information and preparation of annual tax provisions for all partners. You will also calculate Directors pay; be involved in annual pension planning advice; posting journals; providing Tax planning advice, and other ad hoc projects.

To be successful in securing this position as the Tax Assistant you will have experience in professional partnerships such as legal sector, accountants, or surveyors; you will also be studying towards a recognised accounting or tax qualification.
