This is a great opportunity for an experienced Probate Adminstrator looking to join a firm that supports and values career development. You will be joining this global firm on a permanent basis in their stunning London offices to provide assistants to this extremely busy team.

The role will consist of being involved in assisting the Probate team with obtaining Grants of Representation, post grant administration and distribution of the estates of clients.

Duties will include but not be limited to;

  • Liaising directly with clients and gathering documentation/arranging completion of estate questionnaire by clients following death
  • Drafting preliminary estate summary spread sheets of client assets and liabilities
  • Drafting Oaths for Executors or Administrators
  • Dealing with Inheritance Tax issues where necessary
  • Dealing with queries raised by the Probate Registry prior to issuing of grant
  • Collecting/transferring assets includes drafting authorities to banks and financial institutions, dealing with the sale/transfer of investments and other policies/financial products
  • Dealing with the land registry and transfer of properties into the names of beneficiaries
  • Drafting legal deeds and documents including deeds of appointment
  • Drafting letters to clients setting out available options (for example tax planning options following first death)
  • Keeping managers and Partners regularly updated with progress on assignments and assist with billing
  • Other day to day dealing with a number of probate/estate administration matters
  • Drafting basic letters of explanation/advice for clients
  • Collecting income tax information for accounts/HMRC as applicable
  • Drafting simple income tax returns and R185

To be successful in your application for the Probate Assistant you will be;

  • You will need to have worked in a Wills and Probate position previously holding at least 3 years' experience
  • Be a quick thinker
  • Strong numerical skills
  • Confident in communicating both orally and in writing with a diverse range of clients
  • Must have excellent all-round IT skills, MS Office including Excel and Word, ideally would have Digital, Troika or Isokon experience and be familiar with simple tax returns
  • Have the ability to deal with sensitive issues
