Finance Assistant

A London based Law Firm is looking for an enthusiastic Finance Assistant to join their dynamic Finance team. Your main responsibility will be to provide financial and administrative support to the team. In order to apply for this role it is required that you have up to two years of legal finance experience.

Key responsibilites:

  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly financial reports as defined by management
  • Conduct quarterly partner reviews of aged WIP, disbursements, and client balances
  • Take ownership of the monthly billing schedule and process for a key clients
  • Update the monthly overhead expenditure schedule
  • Deal with monthly, quarterly and annual audit requests for various clients
  • Circulate the weekly matter opening reports to the CRE matter partners
  • Assist with marketing queries including posting journals for monthly recharge of entertainment cost to the correct nominal
  • Take ownership of the residual balances to ensure a set quota has been reviewed on a weekly basis
  • Review billing guides, invoices and credit notes received from fee earners and secretaries for compliance with the firm's policies and HMRC/SRA rules
  • Support the billing team to enter invoices and credit notes on to the accounting system as required
  • Review and release payments on behalf of our cashiers
  • To oversee the day to day processing of WIP
  • Set up new users on system
  • Assist in the delivery of software and other projects as required
  • Assist with year-end accounting and the financial audit
  • Maintain reconciliations for the firm's bank accounts at busy times and as cover

Key requirements:

  • Graduate with Maths 'A' Level
  • 2 years' relevant experience within a law firm
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and unsupervised to meet the varied needs of the department
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and flexibly when required
  • Ability to pick up new systems and procedures quickly
  • Organised manner with ability to prioritise workload
