Compliance Officer

An international Law Firm with over 1200 lawyers in 28 offices across Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific is looking to recruit a Compliance Officer to join their London offices within the department of Risk and Compliance. This is a great opportunity to join a fast paced team where you will report to Deputy Compliance Manager.

This is a busy and demanding role and you will be part of a close knit well team. You will be involved in conflicts, AML and sanctions work. With opportunities to learn and become proficient in areas beyond their current area of expertise.
The role also requires you to:
*New clients and matters inception, including handling Conflicts, AML and Sanctions compliance.
*Carrying out conflict searches and removing false positive hits from conflict reports.
*Be familiar and keep up to date with the firm's relevant processes, policies and procedures.
*Advise PAs, fee earners and partners on best practice in relation to client matter opening procedures.
*Escalate high risk issues to the Money Laundering Reporting Officer to assist with managing the firm's anti-money laundering compliance risks.
*Undertake ongoing AML/Sanctions monitoring of high risk clients.
*Handle administrative queries linked to the client and matter opening process.
*Assist with implementing information barriers for the practice through software.
*Provide face-to-face training on firm's relevant policies and procedures to new joiners.
*Occasionally required to work with Accounts, Cashiers, Marketing and Business Development, Financial Systems and IT departments.
*Carry out ad hoc tasks and projects which may arise within the team to implement and develop risk led initiatives.
*Contribute positively to the progression of the team by supporting improvements to systems and procedures.

To be successful in this role you will need to be an excellent communicator and team player. Have good attention to detail, good organisational skills, excellent persuasion and reasoning skills. As well as have the ability to handle complex workflow and be able to prioritise. You will need to be willing to learn new skills as well as develop on your own skills.
