Accountant

Are you an experience accountant looking for your next challenge?

A great opportunity has arisen at a Top International Law Firm, as a Tax Accountant on an 8 month FTC covering a secondment.

Although the title for this role is Tax Accountant, they are seeking candidates primarily with audit and management accounting experience and an interest in tax or some experience in tax, so that you are familiar with tax terminology.

Specific duties include:

Supervising the Tax Assistant, in the management of the Inter-office Tax Account ensuring that the account is cleared on a monthly basis through the posting of payments made by overseas offices to the appropriate head office general ledger accounts.
Keeping the supporting country tax payment excel sheets updated and reconciled to SAP.
Maintenance of the head office tax general ledger accounts.
Preparing and posting journals to ensure the timely accounting for tax payments, tax reserve movements and claims for double tax relief.
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for all tax accounts to offline worksheets to the agreed timetable.
Work with Tax Managers to resolve reconciling balances.
Working with the International Tax Manager and Group Reporting to review inter-company and inter office transactions (e.g. loans, profit remittance, settlement of on-going intercompany charges)
Provide general advice to the team on accounting issues.
Working with the Tax Assistant and the wider business tax team in the development and user acceptance testing of an online tax payment tracker, Partner tax reserves and Double Tax Relief claims module, to replace existing excel files.

The role will be working closely with the tax (non-qual) team and you will be expected to give guidance and best practice from a qualified accountant perspective on a day-to-day basis. You will also be part of an implementation project for an online tax module, so interest in systems would be ideal. It will be an interesting project working with an external supplier and will be keen for you to be involved in testing, giving recommendations and finally rolling the finished product out.

Advanced Excel skills are essential for this role and experience with SAP would be desirable. You will need to have used a similar system, if not SAP, like Oracle etc. They are open to background but ideally someone from Legal/Prof Service. This person will need to be organised, be good at managing internal client's expectations and have strong prioritisation skills.
