US/UK Private Client Tax Assistant Manager

US/UK Tax Assistant Manager

Are you a US/UK dual-handler looking to take the next step in your career and gain greater responsibility across both compliance and advisory work?

I'm recruiting for a US/UK Tax Assistant Manager to join an established private client tax team in London. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to continue developing their expertise across both jurisdictions while gaining more ownership of client relationships and exposure to increasingly complex work.

The role

You'll work with a varied portfolio of individuals with US and UK tax obligations, taking responsibility for their ongoing compliance requirements while supporting on more complex advisory and planning matters.

As you develop, you'll have the opportunity to take greater ownership of client relationships and become involved in a wider range of cross-border tax issues.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and reviewing US and UK personal tax returns
  • Managing compliance requirements for individuals with tax obligations in both jurisdictions
  • Supporting clients with a range of US/UK tax queries and planning matters
  • Assisting with more complex cross-border and internationally connected cases
  • Managing deadlines and taking ownership of work across your portfolio
  • Liaising directly with clients and building strong ongoing relationships
  • Researching technical issues and supporting senior colleagues on advisory projects
  • Reviewing work prepared by more junior team members
  • Helping to coach and develop junior colleagues
  • Working closely with the wider team on complex client matters

What are they looking for?

Ideally, you'll already be working as a US/UK dual-handler and have experience dealing with both UK and US individual tax matters.

You'll bring:

  • Experience preparing US and UK personal tax returns
  • A good understanding of cross-border personal tax issues
  • Experience working directly with private clients
  • Strong attention to detail and technical ability
  • The confidence to take greater ownership of client work
  • Good communication and relationship-building skills
  • An interest in developing beyond compliance into more advisory-led work

Relevant US and/or UK tax qualifications would be beneficial, although practical dual-handling experience is equally important.

Why consider this opportunity?

This could be a particularly good move if you're looking to build on your existing US/UK experience rather than being pushed towards specialising in only one jurisdiction.

You'll have the opportunity to continue developing as a genuine dual-handler, with exposure to both US and UK tax work, while gradually taking on more complex assignments, advisory work and client responsibility.

It's also a strong next step for someone who has built a solid technical foundation and now wants a position with greater autonomy and longer-term progression.
