Senior Business Development Manager

A leading international law firm seeks a Senior Business Development professional to support its Debt & Capital Markets practice across EMEA on an 18-month fixed-term contract.

This role sits within a high-performing BD & Marketing team, driving revenue growth, strengthening client relationships, and enhancing market positioning in complex, cross-border finance work.

The role
Acts as a key BD partner to practice leadership, delivering high-quality research, analysis, and strategic support across pitches, proposals, and client development initiatives. Ensures BD outputs are insight-led, accurate, and aligned with strategic priorities while contributing to process improvement and team capability.

Key responsibilities

  • Support identification and development of new business opportunities through market and client research

  • Lead and contribute to compelling pitches, proposals, and credentials materials

  • Maintain and enhance BD content including deal lists, bios, and case studies

  • Support client relationship mapping and strategic account development

  • Drive thought leadership, submissions, rankings, and profile-raising initiatives

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver integrated BD campaigns

  • Track, analyse, and report on BD performance and pipeline activity

  • Provide guidance and informal mentoring to junior team members

About the practice
Advises on high-profile debt and capital markets transactions including leveraged finance, high-yield issuances, restructurings, and sovereign debt. Strong presence across London and key financial centres, with particular strength in emerging markets.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in legal or professional services BD (capital markets or finance preferred)

  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Track record delivering high-quality pitch and client materials

  • Understanding of BD strategy, tools, and best practice

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Details

  • 18-month fixed-term contract

  • London-based (4 days in office)

  • Standard hours: 09:30-18:00
