A superb opportunity has arisen for a Research Analyst to join a leading, global advisory firm based in London, joining their well established, highly regarded marketing team.

Working with the Research Manager, this Research Analyst role will support the research and delivery of innovative content marketing and thought leadership, as well as supporting the production of market, competitor and company intelligence and analysis.

The remit of the Research Analyst role includes:

  • Researching, compiling data and conducting analysis to support the production of content marketing and thought leadership across the business
  • Assisting the Research Manager, BDMs, Partners and the wider firm to complete research and data analysis requests
  • Producing weekly retail reports tracking the commercial retail and charity retail sectors through a process of analysis and written insight
  • Producing regional sector and company reports annually for key regions, producing analysis on the market, clients, targets and competitors
  • Conducting analysis to support the firm's flagship campaigns and distilling insights from client surveys and the wider economy
  • Interpreting research findings from primary and secondary sources to assist the Research Manager with the provision of commercial and strategic recommendations both to internal stakeholders and for client-facing materials
  • Supporting the Research Manager and internal stakeholders with data collection, analysis and reporting on market, competitor and company research to inform business planning and targeting strategies
  • Undertaking data curation, tracking, compiling and maintaining rolling data sets on behalf of the Research team
  • Working on the presentation of data through charts, graphs and tables, but also in exploring innovative new ways to tell data stories
  • Keeping up to date on industry news and innovations in core sectors, contributing ideas which could help in continuing to lead markets
  • Fielding appropriate ad hoc research requests to help staff best identify how to complete their proposed research task
  • Answering questions from staff concerning the in-house research resources available to them and directing them to the best training and mentoring resources where appropriate
  • Liaising with outsourced research providers, as appropriate



In order to be successful in this Research Analyst role you will need:

  • Good understanding of primary and secondary research sources and some methodologies
  • Ability to compile and interpret data and present findings in Excel, Word or PowerPoint in a clear way
  • Ability to gather and follow a clear brief and exhibit the confidence to ask questions at any stage
  • Good written skills, able to distil key findings from data into easily digestible bullet points and short written statements
  • An interest in and a willingness to learn about markets, transactions and company structures

  • Ability to engage with internal clients and ensure that a clear brief is gathered
  • Ability to work well within a research team or equivalent environment, to quickly digest and understand requirements
  • A desire to develop commercial awareness and a broad understanding of economics
  • Good level of experience of conducting analysis in Excel and managing large data sets
  • Very good computer skills with particular emphasis on spreadsheets & data analysis
  • A strong level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • A knowledge of FAME, ORBIS, Factiva, mergermarket, IBISWorld would be advantageous, but an enthusiasm for learning how to work with and maximise the value of data products essential
  • A good, upbeat communicator who is responsive and able to forge relationships
  • Educated to degree standard, most relevantly in a field such as economics, humanities or a business focused discipline
