R&D Tax Director

A highly respected accountancy and business advisory firm is looking to appoint an R&D Tax Senior Manager or Director to establish and lead its R&D Tax offering across the East Midlands.

This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious R&D Tax professional who combines strong technical expertise with a proven ability to win work, develop client relationships, and build high-performing teams.

The firm already operates a successful and well-established R&D Tax practice elsewhere within its business and is now investing significantly in expanding this capability across the East Midlands. As a result, they are seeking an experienced R&D Tax specialist to spearhead the growth of the service line from either their Derby or Nottingham office.

This role offers the chance to take ownership of a strategically important area of the business, building a regional presence while leveraging the firm's existing client base, reputation, and internal referral network.

You'll play a pivotal role in shaping the service offering, winning new clients, developing key relationships, and ultimately creating and leading your own team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and growth of the R&D Tax service offering across the East Midlands region.
• Generate new business opportunities through networking, relationship building, and market engagement.
• Identify cross-selling opportunities within the firm's existing client portfolio.
• Manage and deliver complex R&D Tax claims and advisory projects.
• Build trusted relationships with clients ranging from ambitious SMEs through to larger corporate groups.
• Collaborate with Partners and other service lines to develop integrated client solutions.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop a team to support the continued growth of the practice.
• Contribute to the strategic direction of the service line and wider tax function.
  
  About You
  
• Significant experience within R&D Tax, gained in practice, boutique advisory, or specialist consultancy environments.
• Expereince in business development and winning new client work.
• Strong technical knowledge across R&D Tax relief and associated innovation incentives.
• Commercially minded with the ability to identify opportunities and develop client relationships.
• Experience managing teams and developing junior staff.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ambition to build and grow a regional service line.
