Partnership Accountant

Maternity cover Partnership Accountant position at top international law firm on a 12 month FTC basis working in a team of 5 Partnership Accounts experts.

As the Partnership Accountant you will be responsible for all aspects of capital for UK partners and to assist with euro partner capital loans. Additionally, this role is responsible for arranging payment of monthly drawings payments made to partners in UK and France, and for all Partnership Accounts matters for partners in three other locations.

Specific duties include:

  • Prepare illustrations and advise UK partners of changes to Partner Capital Loan (PCL's)s as a result of changes in points following both the main and late allocation review
  • Advise Barclays/HSBC of the increases to PCLs, for UK partners, as a result of changes to points
  • Forward new facility letters to UK partners for signature and return to the bank(s) when the signed documents have been completed by partners
  • Check the quarterly interest amounts charged by the bank(s) and post to each partner's drawings account.
  • Explain the capital arrangements to newly promoted/lateral hire partners in the UK and arrange for PCL's to be set up.
  • Liaise with the cashiering team to let them know when funds are expected
  • Create the journal to transfer GBP PCL amounts to the partners account in the London ledger.
  • Prepare and post journals for capital being retained from profit share for UK partners respectively.
  • Transfer capital balances for UK retired partners
  • Arrange capital repayments to retired UK partners
  • Reconciliation of retired partners' capital accounts
  • Calculate the monthly drawings for UK partners
  • Advise on the monthly drawings to be paid to partners in multiple offices.
  • Create the necessary journals and post to finance PMS
  • Posting monthly drawings journal for all offices

This position does not require an accountancy qualification and they are happy to consider existing Partnership Accountants or someone who already works in the finance team of a law firm who is interested in specialising/ developing their knowledge in Partnership Accounts. This person must be a team player who is able to work autonomously and to high volumes.
