Management Accountant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Management Accountant to join a highly regarded international law firm. The London office plays a key role within a global network, supporting complex, high-value work across multiple jurisdictions.

This is a broad and hands-on role offering responsibility for core financial control activities, management reporting, tax coordination, and client account compliance. The successful candidate will work closely with both finance and non-finance stakeholders while supporting operations across London and Europe.

As the Management Accountant, you will take ownership of general ledger accounting and month-end close activities for the London office while providing support to European entities. This position is ideally suited to a qualified accountant who enjoys a varied role and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities in this Management Accountant role

General Ledger & Month-End Close

• Lead month-end close processes in line with company policies and accounting standards.
• Maintain the general ledger, including journal postings, intercompany transactions and reclassifications.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all items are resolved promptly.
• Analyse P&L and balance sheet performance, investigating variances and trends.
• Support cash management processes, including bank reconciliations and payment runs.

Management Accounting & Reporting

• Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Produce cost centre reporting and partner with budget holders to resolve queries.
• Deliver meaningful financial analysis and reporting to support business decision-making.

European Finance Support

• Coordinate tax compliance requirements with external advisers and payroll providers.
• Assist with accounting activities across European offices, including journals, reconciliations and vendor support.
• Support statutory accounts preparation and audit processes.
• Ensure accurate intercompany accounting and cost allocations across jurisdictions.

Client Account Compliance

• Support compliance with client money regulations and internal controls.
• Assist with client account reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies.
• Help monitor and resolve residual client balances.
• Support client-to-office transfers and other client account transactions.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests and maintain clear process documentation.

About You

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Strong experience in general ledger accounting and month-end close processes.
• Previous experience within a professional services environment is advantageous.
• Excellent management accounting and financial analysis skills.
• Strong reconciliation and financial control experience.
• Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and Lookups.
• Comfortable working with finance systems and ERP platforms.
• Outstanding organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Proactive, hands-on approach with excellent attention to detail.
