Communications Assistant

An international law firm of more than 900 lawyers with practices in financial services, complex litigation, real estate, corporate securities, and asset management is looking for a bright and talented Communications Assistant to join their team. In this role you will be working within the communications group within the firms global Marketing team supporting a variety of communications-related activities. You will help to drive the firms brand and marketing strategy through various traditional digital channels, applying high standards of quality and acting as a brand ambassador.

Roles and Responsibilities

General Communications Tasks

  • Drafting and posting social media posts and lawyer bios
  • Creating podcasts, videos, and other engaging digital content
  • Drafting messaging copy for various purposes, including PR, speeches, brochures, etc.

Media Strategies

  • Within the context of business and marketing plans, work with the press team to create media strategies that reflect the firm's brand and positioning, disseminate key messages, and achieve the media coverage goals of the firm and practice groups.
  • Work with senior communications and BD team members to identify, pursue and execute a campaign led strategy.
  • Identify potential news, topics, and comment opportunities. Be responsible for driving the quantity and quality of media coverage for the firm.

Media Contact

  • Responsibility for communicating the organization's position on topics and issues to the media and public in general.
  • Coordinate interviews and meetings with reporters and lawyers and preparing partners ahead of time.

About you

  • Journalism experienced preferred.
  • Interest in social media.
  • Interest in a global business and international nuances of PR strategy.
  • Excellent writing and superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Proactive problem-solving and a positive can-do attitude.
  • Proven ability to deal with complex subject matter - preferably legal or financial
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate own work.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Hands on role to meet with journalists, etc.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience.
  • Good university degree.
