Commercial Finance Manager

Newly created Commercial Finance Manager position now available at international law firm.

This role will focus on providing detailed analysis and insight to improve understanding of financial performance and assist in commercial decision making, carrying out detailed financial modelling and

written commentary.

The Commercial Finance Manager will work with the business to drive improvements in financial performance across a broad range of practice areas and assist in the longer term strategic business planning process as well as shorter term annual budgeting process.

As the Commercial Finance Manager you will take responsibility for:

  • Partnering with Heads of Groups, Divisional Managing Partners and BD Managers to develop, update, review and implement business plans to drive the strategic direction of the divisions.
  • Regularly reviewing actual performance, develop forecasts/projections, and monitoring against business plans and budgets.
  • Attending and engaging with regular department meetings to share insight and ensure depth of knowledge of each department is maintained.
  • Continually striving to improve the profitability of the Divisions - Monitoring and managing key financial targets (e.g. billing, chargeable hours, recovery and profitability).
  • Assisting with the production of monthly management information pack including KPI's and divisional commentaries.
  • Reviewing operating results and actual performance of the overall business as well as individual departments, practice groups, partners, and fee earners.
  • Assisting with the budgeting and planning cycles for fee earning departments.
  • Working with the Business Intelligence team to support profitability analysis at client, matter, work type, partner and fee earner level.

To be successful in your application for this role, you will need to be a qualified accountant and have worked in a commercial focused finance role within professional services. Demonstrating strong stakeholder management will be key for this as well as being technically astute with confident analytical skills.
