Business Development Manager

A leading US law firm is looking to appoint a Business Development Manager to join its London office, supporting a high performing and internationally recognised M&A practice.

This is a standout opportunity for a Senior Business Development Executive or an early Manager ready to step up into a broader, more strategic role. The firm offers genuine scope to grow and develop, working closely with senior partners in a progressive, fast moving and collegiate environment.

The role sits at the heart of the London M&A practice and involves close collaboration with partners across infrastructure, private equity and public M&A, as well as regular interaction with colleagues in New York and across the wider firm.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with senior M&A partners to develop and deliver business development plans aligned to practice and firm strategy
  • Leading on pitches, RFP responses and fee proposals, drafting high quality content and coordinating input across teams and jurisdictions
  • Supporting partners with client targeting, sector planning and identifying new business opportunities
  • Preparing materials for partner BD meetings, capturing actions and helping progress strategic initiatives
  • Managing pipeline activity, tracking opportunities and ensuring experience and matter data is accurate and up to date
  • Leading on directory submissions, league tables, awards and surveys for the practice
  • Working with knowledge and legal teams to develop marketing collateral based on innovative and market‑leading deals
  • Updating and maintaining marketing content, including practice descriptions, deal lists, biographies and website material
  • Collaborating with BD colleagues across London, New York and other offices to support cross practice and cross selling initiatives
  • Monitoring and reporting on partner business development activity
  • Undertaking client, market and competitor research to support strategic decision making
  • Supporting events, sponsorships, thought leadership and other profile raising activities
