Marguerite's 20 year Ambition anniversary trip to New York!

Back to Blogs

At Ambition, we believe that exceptional loyalty, dedication and contribution deserve meaningful recognition.

This year, we had the pleasure of celebrating an incredible milestone as Marguerite Clooney marked 20 years with the business.

Over the past two decades, she has played an important role in our success, building lasting relationships with clients, candidates and colleagues while consistently demonstrating the professionalism and commitment that define our culture.

To recognise this remarkable achievement, we surprised Marguerite with a trip to New York – an opportunity to experience one of the world's most exciting cities, spend time with our US team, and reflect on an outstanding career journey so far.

From iconic landmarks and unforgettable skyline views to reconnecting with colleagues and experiencing life in our New York office, the trip created memories that will last a lifetime.

In her own words, Marguerite shares highlights from her special anniversary celebration and the experiences that made the trip so memorable.

Marguerite Clooney's Ambition Anniversary trip to New York!

I swapped my usual working day in the London office for a British Airways flight to New York, courtesy of Ambition, as a thank you for my 20 years with the company.

It was an unexpected and hugely appreciated surprise.

Even the long passport queue on arrival felt a little more entertaining when I realised Tom Hiddleston (of The Night Manager) was standing just ahead of me, Ralph Lauren suit bag in hand. It just goes to show that even A-listers can't always fast-track the customs queue!

After checking into my hotel, perfectly located in Midtown Manhattan, I headed straight to a fantastic rooftop bar with incredible views across the skyline, including the iconic building where Ambition is based. Later that evening, it was even lit up in Ambition green.

Day 1

I woke to glorious sunshine and started the day with a morning run around Central Park, just metres from the hotel. Later, I boarded the East River Ferry and enjoyed seeing New York from the water – the spectacular skyline, impressive bridges and, of course, the Statue of Liberty. We rounded off the day in a lovely Irish bar, Ryan's Daughter, where Billy Joel's Piano Man provided the perfect soundtrack to a New York evening.

Day 2

Keen to see more of the city, we took an open-top bus uptown to explore some of New York's famous galleries. Lunch was a fabulous authentic Italian meal on the Upper West Side, featuring one of the best vongole dishes I've ever had. The day continued with admiring the beautiful brownstones and soaking up the atmosphere of the early evening café scene as the sun began to set.

Day 3

My first day in the New York office started with a walk to work alongside my fantastic new colleague, Ivan. Being based in the iconic Chrysler Building, the office boasts a stunning marble lobby and glamorous Art Deco interiors.

It was also great to be reunited with Ben, whom I worked with for many years in the London office. Hearing New York's church bells and the unmistakable soundtrack of NYPD sirens made a refreshing change from London!

Ben kindly treated me to lunch at the Grand Central Brasserie – an incredible setting that makes it hard to believe you're actually inside a train station.

That evening, Nicky flew in and we enjoyed a fantastic night at a stylish French restaurant in Manhattan, followed by a great evening with the New York team.

To round off the trip, it felt fitting to spend my final evening admiring the Manhattan skyline from the rooftop terrace of a trendy hotel in Brooklyn. A dramatic sunset gave way to a magical pink sky before the city lights gradually illuminated the skyline. It was the perfect way to end a very special trip celebrating my 20th year with Ambition.

A huge thank you to Matt and Nicky for making it happen, and here's to many more successful years ahead.
