REC backs campaign which may help young marketing job seekers

5 February 2010 16:15

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has spoken out in support of a government scheme which may assist young people seeking marketing jobs.

It is in favour of the Labour administration's Backing Young Britain Campaign, which aims to prevent a generation of people being lost to employment.

The initiative is a cross-government one which brings together businesses, public bodies and the voluntary sector to provide more chances for young people.

Under the programme, employers are being asked if they can offer opportunities via apprenticeships, work experience or providing positions.

REC chief executive Kevin Green said: "The REC supports the aims of the Backing Young Britain Campaign and we will be using our Youth Employment Taskforce to drive the debate forward."

The taskforce was launched last November at the organisation's national convention and it is designed to bring together leading recruitment and HR figures and provide practical solutions to getting individuals into work.
