HSBC graduates offered social networking

26 June 2009 08:10

An online tool that offers new graduate hires to HSBC the chance to make contacts before they join has been launched.

The social networking space is being provided to young people, including those hired for banking jobs who are starting graduate employment with the company this year.

It gives them a platform where they can meet and interact with each other, find out more about the bank and keep in touch with prospective colleagues, People Management reports.

John Morewood, senior graduate recruitment and development manager, told the news provider: "Our graduate entrants may have many months between getting the job and starting, while with interns, it could be two years or more before they are going for a permanent job.

"The green room started as a way of keeping them updated on how the organisation is doing, and giving information about the scheme, but soon became a social networking area too."

HSBC is headquartered in London and has around 9,500 offices in 86 countries.
