Bosses must 'relieve pressure' for workers

Employers in the UK must ensure that workers in
accountancy jobs and other vocations do not have too much pressure heaped on them, according to the president of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
Nattasha Freeman made the comments during National Men's Health Week and warned that the recession could create a stress epidemic if action is not taken.
This claim was down to the fact that employees generally need to do more during the downturn while at the same time worrying over their employment future, she explained.
"If people suffer work-related stress, it's terrible for them - it can often leave them out of work for a long time," Ms Freeman added.
"Being out of work is not good for your health, so we need to encourage employers to do more to prevent stress from striking in the first place."
According to a YouGov survey cited by the president, 44 per cent of workers reported that they felt under greater pressure as a result of the recession.
