Graduates 'should be flexible with work location'

New graduates looking for accountancy jobs should be flexible with location and sector, according to one of the industry's biggest employers.

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) warned that the recession has led to an extremely difficult jobs market and the most successful candidates will be those who can adapt.

Sonja Stockton, head of recruitment at the firm, suggested that a great career can begin in a number of places.

"We are still seeing graduates who think London is the only place to start your career; but your career can start anywhere so long as you are picking up the right skills that contribute to your career in the long term," she said.

PwC currently has job vacancies in a number of other areas throughout the UK, along with other roles in cities like Birmingham, Manchester and Newcastle.

The firm did add that its research shows that the business services sector is likely to be one of the first to pick up when the economic recovery begins.
