Keeping candidates 'warm' key to successful recruitment

A top international firm has said the secret to successful recruitment is to keep relevant candidates on record until a suitable job is available for themselves

Fionna White, head of recruitment for Nestle told the recruitment and retention conference for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development last week that such an approach can reduce cost-per-hire, Personnel Today reports.

In a possible example to London recruiters, it was revealed that this cost had been lowered to £700 per person in one case as a result of this candidate relationship management.

Ms White said: "We had a case of a candidate being kept warm for a year, and when a job was finally available, we rang them up and they accepted."

She added that this offers an effective 24-hour turnaround from offer to acceptance.

Nestle has around 265,000 employees made up of 100 different nationalities.
