Social responsibility

We aim to recruit the top talent for our clients and for our own business. This means attracting candidates based on their skills, knowledge and competence to carry out the role to the highest standard. We are committed to the principles of diversity and inclusion and encourage applications from candidates irrespective of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, religion and sexuality.

Witan Jardine is an equal opportunities employer. We give everyone an equal chance to learn, develop and improve. As a result, many of the people employed at Witan Jardine have been promoted into new roles, given new responsibilities and continuously enhanced their skills base.

Our employees’ opinions are valued and we actively encourage all viewpoints though various suggestion scheme and awards.

Central to the way we run our business is our employees’ welfare, ensuring we provide them with a safe and healthy environment and respect the need for a work-life balance.

Environmental awareness

Witan Jardine is an environmentally conscious business and we always look at ways to manage the environmental impact of our activities. This includes evaluating our internal processes, maximising re-cycling, minimising our energy use and ensuring we select and manage our suppliers effectively.

As far as possible we use the most eco-friendly technology and spare natural resources.

Energy usage

We promote the efficient use of energy, evaluating our energy usage in the office and where possible, purchasing low energy IT and office equipment.

Waste generation

In order to reduce waste generation, we encourage recycling and environmentally conscious waste disposal (paper, toners), donating any recycling proceeds to charity.

Sustainable procurement and the use of suppliers

It is just as important for us to ensure that our suppliers are compliant to environmental standards where necessary, and have appropriate social and ethical practices. Where possible, Witan Jardine purchase recycled and Fair Trade products.

Charities and community programmes

Aid for Aged and Sophie Centre Logo

We believe that Witan Jardine should contribute positively to the community in which we operate and engage with charitable and community programmes in a number of ways.

In 2005 we joined the Heart of the City Newcomer programme and as a result have implemented some new initiatives in our business.

We recently set up a “Give as you earn” scheme, allowing our employees to donate to any charity they wish though our payroll.

We support local charities, donate gifts for fundraising and encourage our staff to be involved in regular team events such as:

  • London to Brighton cycle ride
  • JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge
  • Jeans for Genes
  • City Sevens Rugby

At Christmas we run initiatives to support local charities.

Instead of printing Christmas cards, we support local charities by sending ecards. All the money saved from postage and printing is donated to charity. The reduced printing also helps to manage the environmental impact of our activities.

We encourage staff to donate a gift to a local charity. This involves buying practical gifts that could be used over Christmas – such as toiletries, books, presents - as well as financial donations.

Charity Day at Work which involved offering internal incentives for sales staff to generate sales and providing financial donations to local charities when competitions were achieved.

Last year the charities that benefited from this scheme were The Great Ormond Street Hospital and Centrepoint.

This year we are supporting The Sophie Centre and Aid for the Aged in Distress. Throughout the year we will raise vital financial support for them, through various charity events.
